Need help deciding on GPU/Manufacturer

Hello all!

I'm looking at getting a new video card to replace my aging Sapphire 4870, and I'm looking at the following cards:

Sapphire Radeon 7970 1.0 ghz 3gb 5.8 ghz GDDR5
XFX Radeon 7970 GHz edition 3gb 6.0 ghz GDDR5

ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II 980 mgz 2 gb 6.0 ghz ddr5

Which would give me the best performance? The price difference between the cards is a whopping $10. I'm hoping for something reasonably quiet, but will last a while, since I normally rebuild every 4 years or so.

Edit: I should note that my budget is ~$430 cdn after rebates, and I usually shop at (they are local). The games that I usually play are Bethesda products (Skyrim, Fallout), D3, and first person shooters.

I'm also buying a PSU and CPU, and I'm looking at a 1000w PSU and a i5 3570k

  1. I would go for the XFX 7970, the GHZ edition will beat the other two in performance. Just be warned that it'll run much hotter and take a lot more power than the 670.
