would the green earthwatts 500watt power supply be enough to power a 5850 toxic, with at the moment a athlon ii x2 240 eventually going to be a phenom ii x4 965 with 4gb ddr2, one hdd? Amd says the 5850 requires a 500 minimum and i know it'll be fine with the dual core, and i know a 430watt would of powered my pc with an x6 and a lower power usage 6770, but would the higher power consmumption of the 5850 plus a 125watt 965 push the 500watts?

Solution

Hi again - Your PSU has 37a(combined max) on the +12v rails, your
good to go with your 5850 for normal gaming even with some
OC. You are close to rec amps, so don't do stress tests on it.
But, real world usage you are OK.

Hi - exact model of the earthwatts 500 you are referring. There are
three and they have diff amps on +12v rails, from 34a on +12v
to 41.5a on the +12v, fairly big spread, could make a diff.

Solution
the cpu will not be overclocked, its paired with a CM TX2, but just for reg cooling, so stock cpu and gpu under load will be fine? lets say bf3 gaming, crysis 3 etc, wont be running prime 95 or intel burn test for always 100% use, im currently using the 5850 to stress test it as i just fixed it from a bad bios flash, it'll be paired with athlon x2 and then an x4 for another pc, getting the psu for like $20 from a friend and want to be sure reg use as u say plus gaming stress will be fine

Hi - Yes will be fine for gaming & everyday use, I do not (as mentioned above)
recommend stress testing. But, for gaming, incl bf3 & crisis.
you are Ok even with some OC.
