Hey everyone!
I was wondering if I could get some advice on which CPU is best for my build.
Current specs:
Case: Rosewill Thor V2 (In the mail) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147053
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3 (In the mail) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128553
GPU: Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X
CPU: AMD FX-4100
RAM: 8GB

It's mainly for gaming although I do a little Photoshop and 3D art here and there. I looked at the AMD Phenom IIX4 965 BE for $99 but some people were saying get an FX-6100 or an FX-8120/8350. Not really too sure which AMD CPU would be the best in the long run.

I was also wondering which cooler to get for whichever CPU I'll be getting. With the new case I'll have plenty of room to throw one in.

This is my first time building a PC so any help would be appreciated. :D

the 965 is most likely going to beat that 4100, but not much of a upgrade, if anything to make the money worth it would be to sell the 4100 and go 8320/8350 for best use of ur money. A fx 6300 is a great performance for its cost, and would see a noticeable difference from the 4100

I have the FX-4100 atm. It can with a shitty Mobo that I got for like 100 bucks I believe. Some combo deal.

Yes, I will be OCing the new processor. Was just wondering which one is the best deal in the long run.
So, FX-6300 OC'd would be pretty good? What's a decent OC for it? About 4.5-6ish?

Alrighty! I'll probably go with the 6300 since I still need a good CPU cooler. Guessing that's in the range of 50-100 bucks? I'll have a look at some of those.

Thanks! :D

the cooler master hyper 212 evo is always the best solution at $30 but for a high oc id spend a little more, i saw a xigmatek dark knight II for around $53 with push pull fans perform better than a h100, my zalman cnps 9900max cools my x6 without an issue even near 4.0ghz, and one of the best air coolers noctua nh d14 but the zalman and noctua go for $70-90

The fx 6300 is a really nice chip for the money, Especially if you overclock it for around $140 its a soild chip, 6 cores, Unlocked overclockable Cant really go wrong
