Hi all,

I'm building a new gamer PC,
Spec goes

CPU - i5 3570k
mobo - Asrock z77 extreme4
GPU - used GTX 580/ new GTX 660Ti
RAM - 16G Dual 1600Mhz
HDD - 3TB SATAIII
PSU - 750W Rosewill hive

and so on!

So my question is, which should I buy? An used GTX 580 I can probably get under $250, but a new GTX 660Ti is only $300. Please tell me which one is better for gaming, some say 580 is better at gaming the other suggest 660Ti is slightly better on every spec. I'm confused Please help

Thanks!

Don't bother with used parts. You don't its condition or its daily use. I'd get a Sapphire OC 7950. The 660's 192-bit bus will choke up sooner than later.

So, I did some research and looked into that hd 7950, it seems like it's way better than GTX 660Ti. Is this correct? HD 7950 beats GTX 660Ti on gaming tasks. If this is true, then the choice is obvious! Please help me choose, and I decided that 580 is out. Help me decide please, if possible please give me user feedback on both cards

Thank you!

no the gtx660 is the way to go .. did you guys forget about free borderlands 2 ? dont even consider gtx580 .. gtx660 beats the gtx580 and it does it all the while consuming much less power while also running cooler.. gtx660 when overclocked to its full potential will beat out hd7950..

Who cares about the free game? It's the performance that matters. The 660Ti is nothing in front of the 7970. Only the PhysX performance is good.. which actually doesn't matter at all.

And you said, the GTX 660Ti when OC'd to it's full potential will beat the 7970? What about when the 7970 is OC'd?

Forget all other cards OP. Get the 7970, you'll be more than happy :)

An OC 7950 will smash the 660 into little nvidia pieces. Its memory bus is twice the 660 and it will last longer. The choice is simple.

You can overclock GTX 660 Ti as well. I'd go with GTX 660 Ti. I think Nvidia only features are worth it, especially since it's cheaper than HD 7950. Adaptive Vsync, FXAA, TXAA, PhysX - it's all worth it.

Also, at stock it's pretty much tie:

Thank you guys for your wide range intel on these cards!
And I decided to go for ... HD 7950!!! TADAAAAAA!!! :D
Oh and I think I might spend around $1300USD on all the parts combined!
Is that too much?
