Geforce 460 SE vs Geforce 550 Ti Superclocked

Go with the 550. I have it, it's great. Handles almost every game at high settings @ 1680x1050.

i have the 460SE (256-bit DDR5) payed $120.00 for it brand new, i can run crysis warhead (can still push a system) @ 1920x1200 on full enthusiast setting with a solid 50fps and anything else you can throw at it (including BF3), but since your starting new id say the 550ti but if you have the cash id even say skip that and go for the 660 non-ti version when it comes out witch will most likely be soon.

i have my 460SE @ 800/1700/900 (core/shader/memory) and come within spitting distance of the 550ti....

i myself dont plan on upgrading untill DX12 or a game that cant run smoothly on it comes out (havent found anything as of yet that wont)

again you havent mentioned anything about the games you wanna play and at what resolution.. between those two go for gtx460 since you would be able to find it for cheaper than a gtx550 ..
