Sorry, yes pci-e slots are backwards compatible, so an 2.0 version will work with 1.0. ( 2.1 sometimes gives compatibility problems with 1.0 though )

Gotta love backwards compatibility and industry standardization! But yes, robjordy is absolutely correct, a 2.0 card will work in any version of a PCI express x16 slot.
