Hello,

I'm building a new computer and didn't really have a good idea for my gpu. There were several suggestions in a different post in the "new build" section which got narrowed down to the ASUS GeForce GTX 670 Direct CU II TOP 2 GB, the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce and the MSI GTX 670 Power Edition Twin Frozr IV 2 GB, $419, $390 and $430 respectively. If you have a different suggestion feel free to comment.

My specs for the new computer:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Video Card: ?
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Arctic White) ATX Mid Tower Cases
Power Supply: XFX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Optical Drive:Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer
Monitor Asus PA238Q 23.0" Monitor
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit)

This will be a gaming rig. Looking at playing Mount and Blade, Dota 2, GTA 4 on max settings. I do want to oc and maybe sli in the future. Screen resolution will be 1920x1080.

I just want to know what you guys think would be the better buy, why, and a good website to buy the product from. Thanks in advance.

Huh. I've never considered going for a 7970. Are the 7970's as good as the 670's or even better?

I've read somewhere that the 7970's might have better performance straight out of the box compared to 670's, but do they oc as far as the 670's?

First, the Asus TOP models are nowhere to be found. The MSI 670 is a good card to be honest. It does not have as higher clocks as the FTW from Evga but its cooling is better.

I also am debating about the 7970 IceQ from HIS. With that promotional code its cheaper than a 670 but I'm not sure of their quality really. Newegg reviews weren't so good. Another to consider would be the Saphire Vapor X 7970 but that is about 30 bucks more.

HIS IceQ models are amazing! Their quality is perfect, there's nothing else you could ask for!

And like I said before, the Sapphire Vapor X looks the best to me. I love Sapphire haha.

Yeh I would like that one, Saphire, but its $460 and I was looking at getting the 670 FTW edition for $399 but I found that HIS model. Hmm I need a new case but still wondering if I should get it.

I also don't know how well this overclocks either.

Actually you know what? Go for whatever you want. Both the models are EXTREMELY good. And you really won't need anything more! Even a 660Ti would fulfill your needs! :)

My 6950 2GB is able to handle all the games you mentioned at ultra settings!

My personal opinion : Go for the 7970 for being future proof & being more than happy!

Yeh its just hard since I also have been waiting for the Evga 670 FTW to drop to $399 where I can get this 12 inch 7970 now for less. I would order a new case today too. Just unsure really I don't want to run into any problems. This would be my first Amd card anyway.

AMD is amazing. I just shifted from nVidia to AMD and honestly, there's no difference. The only difference is that AMD over clocks VERY easily! And I love that! So will you! :)
