Simple answer. Does a square peg fit in a round hole. NO.

If your processor has one extra pin, then it needs one extra hole to go into or it won't fit and it definitely wont be supported by your MOBO bios.

I think the only reason 1155 lost a pin was so Intel could make it clear that 1156 processors use different chipsets then 1155 processors. They are not compatible with each other. If you want a 1156 CPU, get a 1156 motherboard. If you want a 1155 CPU, get a 1155 motherboard.

Socket 1155 and 1156 have different socket configuration and should be fitted only with motherboard with the same socket configuration otherwise you'll just be wasting your money.

For the difference in price between a used CPU and a new one, I'd go new...then you have the warranty and know its history. If you've been drawn by a cheap S1156 CPU price, then it's because that CPU is dead-end. Supply and demand etc.

When buying PC component especially the expensive one like the cpu and motherboard always go with the new parts, you'll never know when that used component will come to an end maybe after few days or months. New ones always comes with warranty usually a year so when it dies you can always return where you bought it and have them fix or replace the part.
