My mom and dad are looking to get a new computer and I convinced them to let me build one for them, there only requirements are it needs to be fast, good looking, and " notone of those big, light show, cyborg looking computers that most people who build their own computer have. " And to basically have what a normal $500 computer at walmart would have ( monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc)

They mostly only use their computer for internet browsing, word processing, and netflix.

Here it what I came up with.

Excuse my laziness, I really didn't feel like typing the name of each product lol.

For a budget build like this I would consider an AMD processor instead of Intel. You will give up some processing power but gain some graphics power. AMD has better onboard graphics in their chips. And for just word processing and internet browsing, they don't "need" an intel chip, but AMD might be better for netflix and multimedia.

^ Most AMD chips dont even have integrated graphics. You are referring to the APU line. Be a bit clearer when you make these statement.
Wouldn't want someone to buy a shiny new FX-4100 and wonder why they cant get any display from it.

Keyboard/mouse link comes up with the monitor.

Agree with the SSD suggestion. If they arent likely to need a lot of storage, that would be a good option.
Could go SSD+HDD system, but I suspect teaching them how to file manage stuff and all that will be a hard battle. Could just put Windows and important programs on a partition and shrink it down so they cant put anything else in there I guess.

Other than that, pretty good.
