Too hot?

Hello,

I currently have a Duron 850 and it is running 40C, should I be worried about this ? Also the fan I have on it said it was good for cpus up to 2.2 gig...I had it running on my XP1800 and it seemed fine.

40c under load? as long as your system runs stable, then it's fine. 40c even for idel is pretty cool. so u have nothing 2 worry about. if u want 2 get the temperature down even further, then intstall more case fan

40C is actually pretty low, what heatsink are you running, at that temp you should be able to overclock to 1ghz or so(depending on the chips quality).

The average temp for an athlon/duron is around 50-55C, anything under 60 is perfectly fine unless you get random lockups due to heat.

The old p4 ran just as hot despite many peoples belief to the contrary, and those tempratures are quite normal.

Just as hot? The P4 is hotter than the Athlon, both in my experience and from what I've read (assuming both .18 or .13).

I was trying to go easy on the delusionals, but since you came right out and called it, p4s are hotter than athlons(on the same process).
