hi there, here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K @ 4.2 Ghz

CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB

Graphic Card: ASUS GTX 670 DCII

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77M-D3H

HDD: WD 1.5TB Caviar Green

SSD: Sandisk Extreme 128GB

Power Supply: Aerocool Strike X

Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer

Monitor: AOC 21.5' (1920 x 1080 resolution)

this is what i do:
3D rendering, gaming on ultra spec, video production, image editing, etc.

lol,

i know you all would go like wth?!

but...im bored of my super fast rig...

seriously, it just took me 8 minutes to render a Full HD video, 10 minutes to render Full HD 3D, ALL GAMES ON THIS EARTH ON ULTRA SPEC AND 55 TO 60 FREAKING FPS (except for the unbelievably jackassed Uber-sampling in Witcher 2:Assasin of Kings)

now i know my rig is not high end, but, it's too powerful.. :(

i am planning to downgrade. All things i have done with my rig is too fast and easy. No challenge.

please suggest me a downgraded spec. budget is $1100. prefer intel and nvidia.

ty in advance. cheers.

just because he is bored in being powerful. :(

Don't downgrade your rig, upgrade your monitor. You won't be saying "zomg, too powerful" when you try to max out 2560x1600.

obviously you are right,

but here in Malaysia, you can only get 1920 x 1080 resolution...

meh.. ill try the 42 inch Sony Bravia then...

Don't try SONY they are usind Samsung S-PVA panel or PVA. Use Samsung instaed or Lg, for rendering you can use IPS panel but for gaming IPS has lower refresh rate.
If you have an extra moneyt to throw away buy the Toshiba ZL2 it got 4K resolution.. ;)
PC monitor and tv's are diffrent.

My advice:
Add a small hard drive (40gb or 80gb) to your current system and install a Linux operating system on it. Use your motherboard's boot selector to dual-boot. Plenty of new things to learn.
October 22, 2012 4:28:28 PM

I've got a downgrade rig already built for you. Let's trade! AMD Phenom2 (965 I think), and an AMD HD 7770.

Alternatively, try 3d gaming, 120hz gaming, hi-res monitor, or multi-monitor gaming.

edit: As a note, a bigger 1080p monitor won't really push your hardware any harder, if that is what you are really looking for. Another thing you could blow money on would be a home theater PC (small case and lower power processor such as an A8).
October 22, 2012 5:09:20 PM

Get a old computer case and some cardboard and draw yourself some components?

Or

Stop complaining about having a good rig and just play some games and be happy that you can afford a nice rig.
October 22, 2012 5:12:05 PM

I get that you're serious, but why would you want to downgrade? Just take out the 670 and run on integrated graphics. It would make you money as you could sell the 670 instead of buying a whole new computer.
October 22, 2012 5:14:10 PM

Another thought: buy a crappy laptop and make that your daily driver and go back to the desktop when you feel the need to game (and you will, sooner or later).

I recommend one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It will feel like you've traded in your Corvette for a 1989 Ford Tempo, thus giving you that crappy feel you so desire.

Get 2 more 1920x1080 monitors and play games in surround...

or get 3 24-27 inch 1080p monitors. 21.5 is a bit small

Or this and the craptop, so you can have the best of both worlds. Go spend that dough!
October 22, 2012 5:20:41 PM

Just wait two years. Time will downgrade it for you and you wont have to spend any money
October 22, 2012 5:24:28 PM

Why on earth would you want to downgrade and then be pissed off after one year?

just find something new that taxes your system more, i cant think of a more first world problem then yours! get three monitors maybe and then you can be happy getting 20-30 fps on ultra games. since your getting your work done fast go do something else, like going outside, hanging out with friends/family, stuff like that.
October 23, 2012 12:03:24 AM

hi guys, this is a new update, i think im going to have a 3 monitor setup.

5760 x 1080 resolution.

so, that will probably save me money and only get me 30 fps in games such as metro 2033, etc.

ty for the info and bear with my whining... :)

You just wanted the discussion thread points didn’t you :D ?

Getting into the multi display scenario would be your best option besides waiting as a virtue for programs/games to start advancing.

Wouldn’t downgrade your main rig just in case something comes along which will need the power. Albeit buying a super cheap budget rig to experiment on might be a challenge for you to try getting it fast as possible.

+1 to multiple monitors.

Seeing as I have an i7 3770, 32GB RAM, a 256GB SSD, a 2TB HDD, a GA-Z77X-D3H mobo, etc., I am bored as well.

I think I'll go build a system out of a Cyrix 6x86 P166+ for some "challenging" computing.

if you are referring to stchman, from the looks of his specs i would have to guess that he isn't a real big gamer and adding monitors to his gtx 550ti wouldn't help him in his computing challenges.

October 24, 2012 2:19:58 AM

looking forward for some 30 fps-ish in games...

and who has a 550ti?

it works fine. metro is the only game i can't get ~40-45 fps with the eye candy turned down a little with a 1033 overclock. (crysis2, BF3, BFBC2)

but yeah, i am looking at those spiffy 7870s or maybe a 7950 . . .

haha, yup, nothing to brag about anything... but if you look at my 1st post,

the performance of my rig is too powerful, until it bores me..ahhaaha

but, just imagine if a better rig than mine falls into my hands, i will get more bored, hhahah
October 24, 2012 3:30:08 PM

TROLL!!

Or you seriously have way too little to worry about. Lots of people would kill for that rig. Find something more challenging to do with the hardware you have instead of downgrading. That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard of.

lol, guys, a new update here, i just bought 3 AOC 21.5' inch monitors running at
5760 x 1600 resolution....

lol, i played bf3, metro 2033,spanning 3 monitors and set it to high spec and i get 28 fps minimum... :(

so, downgrade is certainly out right now...3 monitors with 5760 x 1600 resolution is actually killing...

but i am happy right now...at least metro 2033 with 28 fps is a challenge to my GTX 670,

why the frowny face! your running games at HIGH with one 670 on 3 screens... at 28fps MINIMUM! thats really good for the 670... maybe try overclocking it to try and "fight the power"
