Flash plugins don't seem to take

Hello, today youtube and other sites claim to require a new adobe flash plugin be downloaded, but even after going through the directions and running it and being told I am running Flash whatever version and even restarting for good measure I come back and get the same flag that I need to instal this same plugin. What might be wrong with my computer settings to cause this?

What browser are you using?
None of my browsers are asking me for an updated version of the Flash Player.
Be careful of what you might end up installing. Could be some other plugin but masquerading as a flash plugin.

It's probably the fault of Flash. It is a magnificent piece of sh*t. Try completely uninstalling all versions of all flash plugins and try reinstalling the latest version for whichever browser you use.
