"Silent" PSUs: Are they the real deal?

I'm planning out a new computer that will double as a recording studio. Because it's important that the machine run as quietly as possible, I've been looking at "silent" power supplies like this one:

Have any of you tried one of these before? What did you think?

I don't know about quietpc.com's, but Enermax Whisper power supplies are very good.

Yes, I love my 430W Enermax Whisper, I can't hear any noise from it. My GlobalWin WBK38 CPU fan, is another matter, however.

AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the ULTIMATE PC processor

Yep. Got one. Love it.

If 300W is enough for your needs, this will be fine.

Here is a link to work out your wattage requirements.
I have 4 x 80mm Quietpc case fans, which use about 2W max total!

Now my system totals are 247W. Thats using the max numbers in the link. Assuming all my components are using the full 247W, I should really be using a 350W PSU. This allows the PSU to run at 70% or less, which is recommended for PSU life. I figure however, that if I'm already erring on the side of caution, I can take off 5W for each item I guessed at. This takes me to 205W which lets me use a 300W PSU happily.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! Camie, you might have noticed in my CPU fan thread that my machine is going to be really really close to what you've got - so I guess that means I'll be safe with a 300 watt PSU. I'm thinking that I'm going to go with that one, since I'll have to order a couple of silentdrives anyway (and can hopefully save on shipping). Thanks!

ive got an enermax 550W monster, and it aint a whisper... yet it too is COMPLETELY drowned out by a 4500rpm 60mm cpu fan.

Is that a Northwoody in your pocket or are you just eXPited to see me?
