Options to replace my Q6600/mobo/ram

Hi everyone, I'm currently running a Q6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz on a Gigabyte EP35-DS3L, XFX HD6850 overclocked to 850/1100, 8GB DDR2 ram in an Antec 900 case and am looking to upgrade a little bit.

I do a fair bit of gaming (Battlefield 3 mostly currently) and would like to be able to run upcoming titles are fairly high settings. Currently now in BF3, I'm running it at high settings with a couple of ultra settings and getting an average framerate in the 40s, with drops on larger maps with lots of action going on. As well as gaming, I do a bit of graphics work in Photoshop, as well as video rendering.

Any suggestions on a cpu/mobo/ram combo that won't break the bank (preferably $250'ish or less) and will give me a fairly good boost in performance?

  1. I doubt you will get much of an upgrade with a budget of only 250dollars for all three parts. I would wait untill you can push the budget a little bit further... or just save up for a new system in long run. High settings on battlefield is still good if you ask me.

    Good luck
  2. You can spend $250 on a decent processor alone.

    Figure this:

    Processor - $250
    Motherboard - $150
    RAM - $80

    That's $480.

The total for this upgrade is around $273 shipped. this cpu or motherboard won't allow for overclocking, but it's plenty fast and a quad core.
  4. $80 on RAM is a bit much. I would say $40 for 8GB would be the more budget oriented option.
