Hello, my name jhosep, well i have a hp pavilion a4313w that i want to upgrade the graphics card and power supply. first of all my power supply is a ATX 250 -12z REV D7R IMPUT 100-127v-6a / 200-240v- 3A this power supply came with the cpu. i was thinking to put a MSI Video GeForce 210 1GB DDR3 PCI Express x16 2.0 DVI/HDMI Graphics Card but i dont know what power supply should i buy ? it this power supply would work Startech - ATX12V Power Supply 400W. thank you :??:

Solution
invest on a good psu. get a 550w, a good one. and you'll be set. get a corsair or seasonic, dont get generics, even coolermaster is not that good
The GeForce 210 does not require auxiliary 6 pin power. It does require a psu with 18a capability on the +12v rails. The label on your psu should have that information.
At 250w, I suspect it is too weak.

The Startech is a tier 5 unit(not recommended, replace asap) on this list:

I would look for something different.
The Corsair CX430 is a decent psu with 32a. It is only $24 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026

Hi - The GT 210 is a low power (and low performance) and I assume you
are purchasing it because it's what you can afford. It could probably run on the 250w
psu in the computer now. The gt 210 can run on less than 300w psu.

I can't find Startech in realhardtech's psu database, nor can I find a lab
review of it from a trusted site. I would recommend you avoid that brand.

Also, where are you located and what is your budget for a graphics card
and PSU. If you are going to upgrade, it would make sense to do a
little better than a gt 210 if you can afford to do so.

Hi - it actually has 32amps on the +12v rail (your CPU & GPU draw from the 12v rail)

Hi - geofelt gave you a good rec, you can ignore the comment that
it is no better than a cheapo psu, there's always people to trash anything.
Altho it is a budget level psu, it is an upgrade(32 +12v amps vs 28) of Corsair's
now discntd cmpsu430cxv2, using the same oem - CWT, which had
good reviews from the top 2 psu review sites, jonnyguru & hardware secrets
