Hello all,

i am upgrading my PC with some parts but i have a question about windows install. I have a new Sabertooth 990FX mobo, AMD FX-8150, new memory and new AMD HD7950 card. When i take all the old hardware out would i just unplug the harddrives, fans, etc from the mobo, put all the new hardware in, plug everything back into new mobo and turn the PC on? Or do i have to re-install Windows and all drivers again?

Thank you and i hope i am clear, as i cant really word out the confusion i have

You might have to buy a new copy of windows. If your copy of windows is oem(if you paid $100 for it or most copies that come with prebuilt pc) then it's locked to the original motherboard.

yes my copy was oem.... thats bad news:(. i am sending my old parts to my brother for his first build. can i send the original oem OS with the parts and he wont have to buy one?

is there anything i should do before the exchange, my friend said something about Windows Easy Transfer, but i dont know what that is..... All i have on my SSD is the OS and some programs, all my games are on a separate SSD.

thanks again for replying and helping
