Hello
I have recently build a new pc and its fair to say im a total noob at this
the system for some reason is crashing when the gpu in any of the pci x 16 slots on the motherboard but will run fine in the middle slot which is pci x8
My question is are there any aditional steps to installing a gpu into the x16 slot apart from plug in connect power and load drivers?
Also is there much point worrying about it will I get better performance from using a x16 slot?
Here is my hardware

G1.Assassin2
8192MB RAM
Intel i7-3930K 3.20GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
Patriot Pyro SSD

Thanks in advance
Adrian

Hi, It is most likely the mobo, and it cannot be the gpu because when you plugged it into the x8 it worked. The difference between x8 and x16 is very minimal. I suggest you get a replacement for your mobo because you might have dual gpu setup in the future.
