PCIe 2 Compatible with PCIe 1 or not

I have GA-G31M-ES2L mother board and now i am going to buy a radeon 6670 ddr5 for my board. i am not sure tht PCIe 2 will support PCIe 1. So plz some 1 help with the correct info with links or some kind of proof so that i can get the right thing. Hi

Yes PCI E1 is compatible with PCI E 2 and vise versa. But if you add a PCI E 2 card on a PCI E mobo, your card will downgrade and run at PCI E 1 speeds.

You're sure it's a 2.0 and not a 2.1 version ?

Because 2.1 doesn't always work with 1.0.

G31 is PCI-E 1.1.
PCI-E 2.0 and 2.1 cards should work with that motherboard.

No, PCIe 2.1 doesn't require more power. It's just different architecture by AMD. Read this article:

As i remember The "2.0" can deliver up to 75 watt power and "2.1" can deliver power up to 150 watt, so some card may work some card don't...

well after read the version history in wiki it also stated that.. radeon 6670 ddr5 is low powered card it a good posibility it will work with 1.1
