If you have a valid licence key for Nero, try downloading the newest version of the program from the Nero website, and seeing if it will recognize the burner.

Some versions of the standard burning software packages like this are proprietary, and will only work with a particular drive.
Be sure that all traces of Easy CD Creator (and your other burning program) are removed from your system before installing another burning program like Nero. Only one burning program per system, unless you install some kind of boot manager that allows you to choose between them, and that's not generally recommended.
