Need help with cooling options- i7 3970X

I'm trying to build a fast gaming pc and I am having some trouble finding a cooler for my CPU because I've heard people saying how hot the 3970x gets and it got me worried so I need some advise from the community.

I'm looking for a cooler that does not hit my ram and I would like to avoid water cooling but if it is my only potion I will give it a shot, also I don't need to overclock although that would be a good feature I don't need it.
Specs:

Graphics Card- 1x powercolor radeon 7990 6aGB
Sound Card- 1x Asus Xonar Essence ST

HDD- 1x Western Digital Caviar Black 4TB

P.S. I not fazed by the price

  1. This probably fits the bill:

It doesn't look like it protrudes much over the processor, so you should be fine.
  2. This is the best air cooler you can get for the money:

For no hassle Liqued cooling for around the same $ try this:
