I need it to be reasonably priced/cheap, and be able to handle 3 monitors pretty well. No gaming will be done on this rig, but I'll be throwing Linux on it and probably watching plenty of HD content/streaming. Any recommendations?

Budget: Around $50. If I need to spend more, that's fine too.

for $50 bucks you are not going to be able to get a single card to support 3 monitors...if you have more than one PCIE slot you could try and get two cheap cards and run three monitors off of that.

this is the cheapest card that can do three monitors from AMD
requires the use of an active displayport adapter

or you can get two of these if you mobo supports it and you wont need an adapter

I would go for the single card route its only about $20 bucks more and that card can game a little if you ever wanted to

Thanks for the info! I'll go CF since I don't want to spend a lot. :) Gaming really isn't important to me for this build, it's purely school work/web surfing/media.

Would I run into any issues with CF and Linux?

actually you wouldnt even be crossfiring the cards...they would just be two separate display adapters in the pc...you just gotta make sure your board has two PCIE slots and that the build of Linux you will using supports multiple display adapters it doesnt have to support crossfire...also you may want to make sure amd has drivers out for linus for that card before you purchase them
