As you can tell from my choice of CPU, I'm on a budget.

I'm aiming at a computer that can run the latest games at 1680 x 1050 resolution and medium-high details.

Right now, I'm looking at the Radeon 6670, 7750, 7770 and the Geforce 550 ti. Tell me your thoughts and opinions.

The 7770 out performs the 550 TI in almost every way. If you're willing to spend $10-$15 more a 6850 would be an even better choice.

7770 gets my vote unless you need CUDA. Then go Nvidia. If you don't know what CUDA is, get the 7770.

Get Gigabyte's HD 6850 and you're pretty much good to go.
It would be more than enough.
Why Gigabyte one? Because Gigabyte's HD 6850 is THE best HD 6850 on the market. I highly recommend getting it.

I would vote for either the 7770 or the 6850. The 6850 is the fastest, but uses more power. Not by much though.

OP, you really don't need HD 77-- to satisfy your current demands. Get HD 6850, it would be more than enough (especially if you get Gigabyte's "OC" version).

But the 77--'s are weaker and cost less than the 6850.

:\
That's the point, DUH. They're weaker, or course they'll cost less. But HD 6850 doesn't cost THAT much more, and it performs much MUCH better.
If you can afford it - buy Gigabyte's HD 6850 without any hesitation, you won't regret it even one bit. If you can't afford it - get cheapest HD 7770.
Anyway, it's for you to decide in the end, I just really hope that you will make a truly wise choice.
That's my last word on it.
Have a nice day/night, and I wish you the best of results in any of your doings. Peace.

The 7770 and 6850 are evenly matched in DX11 with a slight advantage going to the 7770. They are always within a few FPS of each other. In DX9 and 10 the 6850 usually has a slightly larger advantage. After owning both, I would not recommend the 6850 over the 7770 unless you like playing older titles. Even then, the less than 5% performance difference between the two is not worth it once you factor in the efficiency and overclocking ability of the 7770 and the $25 difference in price.
