[Build Help] Can a i5-3750k + 7970 gpu run most games over 60fps?

I am trying decide between a 120hz monitor and a IPS monitor. If I cannot run most games over 60fps with the components I have, I obviously have no use for a 120Hz monitor. Please let me know what you guys think.
