Wifi signal to router via internet connection sharing

Forum Networking : LAN/WAN Wifi signal to router via internet connection sharing

Hello,

my desktop computer is located in a far corner of the house and has a decent wifi signal from my main router; however, my laptop, ps3, and xoom does not have a good signal to that router. I do have an extra wifi router handy. I was wondering if I can use my computer to pick up the wifi signal and then do an internet connection sharing (ICS) via an ethernet wire to the extra wifi router where the laptop, xoom and ps3 can use.

I am trying my best but I cant get this windows 7 64bit to share the internet connection. I followed the microsoft site on how to turn on internet sharing but it is not working. I even tried to connect the laptop directly to the desktop but it is still not connecting to the internet. I spent the last 4 hours trying to get this to work but its driving me crazy.

This maybe a dumb question but when the site says enable "Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection" on the device I want to share... which one am i sharing? The wireless card or the LAN card? I want to share the wifi signal but its the LAN I want to connect to the router? I tried both ways but its a no go.

The extra router I want to share internet to is a Netgear WPN824 RangeMax router.
