Sony DDU1624 DVD trouble

I am having a bit of trouble probably brought on by myself but anyway. My Sony DVD player has no manual, cords or anything. I installed it and it is working fine as far as I can tell as a cd player but as a DVD play it seems to not work at all. there is pins by the power on the dvd that aren't shown on the diagram on top.

The error is "display overlay is not available" I believe from ati's software dvd player. Anysuggestions?
