My friend uses his GTX 280 in 3D Max. He has a chance to buy Quadro FX 5600 for 200$. I wanna know, is significant difference in computing power between these cards?
P. S. I also want to know, does FX 5600 perform better than Quadro 410, 600 or 2000?
Sorry for bad language...
The FX 5600 uses the same chip as the 8800 ultra, so the GTX 280 is about 50% faster than the 5600, 100% faster than the 600, and infinately better than the entry level 410.
I know, that G80 is slower than GT200. I want to know, how much the difference is in 3D Max use.
Some people told me that Quadro is specialized for 3D Max and CAD use and performs better than GeForce series. they also told me that Quadro uses different firmware, that makes job for Quadro easier
The Quadro drivers and firmware are optimized for stability in CAD programs not neccesarily for increased performance. How much difference it makes is going to be dependent on how often the GTX 280 crashes and how much work you lose when it does.
A Quadro FX 4800 moves up to 10 times faster when running workstation applications than the GeForce GTX 280. This leads swiftly to a clear and inescapable conclusion: there's no good reason to use a GeForce graphics card for workstation applications. It just doesn't pay.

So if Quadro 4600 is about 10 time faster than GTX280 and the Quadro5600 is better than the 4600, your friend will get at least 10x increase performance
