would you rather go for a 660 ti 3GB or the 670? the 660 ti has more vram but will that make the performance more on par with the 670?

The 670 preforms with a top 5 frames difference from the 580 on ultra. If you are going for long term go with the 670, because when one 670 is not enough, you can always get a second one dirt cheap for sli. Also the I5-2500k is the recommended card for BF3.

"Our testing today at super high AA settings has shown that the "bus limited" GeForce GTX 660 Ti does not crumble so easily. There were no instances where we ran into "VRAM wall"s that took gaming performance into single digits, this never happened even at high AA settings with Transparency AA."
"So what does it all mean? It means that there is more to performance than just the width of the memory bus and the bandwidth available to the memory. There are other factors involved that determine gaming performance, and the widest memory bus with the most bandwidth isn't always going to be the winner in actual gaming performance."

It is a bottleneck in sli... the 192 bit bus will beat the *** outta the performance the two cards could potentially supply.

I never said the 660ti is a bad card, it is truly an amazing one.
If you are going to sli it tho, that is a different story; it is not a good card to sli.
If i were you i would find the extra money for the 670, it would be better in the long run; as you could buy a second one way down the road for sli when this one is not enough for you, and by that time they will be damn cheap.

thanks for all the feed back, I also just looked at the 670 and the 7970, given the 7970 is a tad cheaper and though might not be as good as the 670, is still a pretty dang good card.

Here you go just in case you don't believe me every other review site said it to just having trouble finding all the links oh well this is going to half to be good enough lol.

"As a result the 7970Ghz isn’t only loud but it’s in a category of its own, exceeding the GTX 680 by nearly 10dBA!"
"The 7970GE is without question the loudest single-GPU video card we have seen in quite some time, and that’s nothing for AMD to be proud of."

"The end result is that while AMD has tied NVIDIA for the single-GPU performance crown with the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition, the GeForce GTX 680 is still the more desirable gaming card. There are a million exceptions to this statement of course (and it goes both ways), but as we said before, these cards may be tied but they're anything but equal."

yeah I see what your saying, but how noticable is 10dBA when playing?

I honestly don't know but from what review sites claim i be scared to risk buying the card if it's that bad :( and i don't see any reason why so many professional review sites would lie i mean come on what's the point that doesn't seem likely to me.

yeah, the main problem is the budget, really an 7970/670 price is out because that will put me 100+ over budget after what I have already had to change, so would the smart choice between the 660 ti 3GB version from gigabyte and the 7950 of any producer be the 660 ti?
