Amd 6 core cpu for $200??

Hello,
i am upgrading my rig.
i have total budget of $600 for a gaming rig.intel core i5 start from $200 but amd offers 4core cpu from $120.
I can't understand the price gap.Is amd right choice?

For $600.00 Go AMD all the way. If you are starting completely from scratch, you can still get a really good gaming rig. If you are using NEWEGG.com, make sure to utilize their combos to save tons of money. Do not splurge on things you do not need. Stick with a nice, cost saving case. A smaller HDD, no aftermarket heatsink. Get a nice, reliable PSU, get the Phenom II x4 965 BE for 100 bucks, get a nice AMD GPU. The gpu should be your most expensive item in the cart. I would recommend a 7850 or 7870 unless you can get a good combo with Nvidia. Good luck

What are you upgrading, your entire rig (every single piece, down the bolt) or just your mobo, cpu and gpu?
If just your mobo, cpu and gpu, it's fairly easy to go the intel route in upgrading terms (an i5 3570k being $219, a sapphire 7870 for 219, and the rest of what's left on a good intel mobo).

Let us know what you plan to upgrade.
