Why does cpu never use 100% only in benchmarks will it

i play a cpu intensive pc game and it maybne uses 40-50% but never does it use anywhere close to 100% its this way with alot of thingsa i believe video encoding as well, however when i do a benchmark or somthin it always uses 100% any ideas why my games dont use 100%

core i7 920 overclocked to 3.6ghz
ddr3 1600 cas 8
ssd kingston hyperx 3k
radeon 7850 OC graphics card
coolermaster real power pro 650watt psu

Games don't need to use 100%. Your gpu is the limiting factor.

they will use what they need to use to do the job given all other constraints in your system.
