Help! Which is better?

Hey guys, i need help with this choice.
Which is a better computer/deal for gaming?

1) $310 (Dell XPS 420)
Intel core 2 quad q9450 2.66ghz CPU
4 gb RAM
Geforce 9800 gt 512 mb GPU
300 gb hard drive HDD
windows vista home premium OS
375 watt PSU

For this package, i would have to upgrade PSU and GPU, and i am looking into GTX 460 1gb or radeon 6850 hd, and that would probably be $200, with a decent PSU


2) $350
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0ghz CPU
4 gb RAM
MSI Geforce GTX 460 Hawk 1gb GPU
640 gb hard drive HDD
windows vista 64 bit ultimate edition OS
650 watt PSU

For this package, i would probably have to upgrade CPU for quadcore for newer games, and probably MOBO,

So which is a better deal? thanks for all replies and suggestions!

Neither has a good operating system. If I had to pick one though, I would go with number two as it has a faster cpu, gpu, larger HDD, higher wattage psu and a 64 bit operating system.

it has a faster cpu?
i searched around and checked benchmarks that the 1st cpu, (quad core) is much faster than the core 2 duo..
i may be wrong though, but i though quad cores are better for certain games, such as Battlefield 3, and GTA 4
