Im having trouble finding a descent cpu

ok so im in the hunt for looking up a cpu that i could boost my rig my spec are


Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU 2160 @ 1.80GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.8GH
Memory: 6144MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 6142MB RAM
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 1 gb
mobo: Foxconn G33M02 and is listed as G33M-S

i am using a 650 Po-Work psu and a tornado 238-wu case idk if thats more than enough power for a new cpu im getting into this building pc's as a hobby so im trying lol..

I would start from scratch at this point bro lol, no point buying a CPU for a socket that is several years old.

what could i selvage from this rig because i bought the psu and case thats it others i found at auction it was in a box full of stuff

I wouldn't continue to use that power supply bro... it's not very good, and it's dangerous to continue to use it. You should buy PSU's from more reputable brands. If you want to build a new PC you should post in the appropriate forum and fill out that form they have and someone will help you out.

if you are not gaming you could salvage the graphic card... but keep in mind you wont be able to game much with it it's pretty weak.

You can also salvage the case

About the only things you can salvage are the case, graphics card and power supply. However, you should replace the power supply as soon as you money for it. When poor quality PSUs die they can send an electrical surge through your PC which can damage one component if you are not lucky or it can completely destroy every single component if you are really unlucky. The case will survive though.

Good brand PSUs are Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, Enermax, Fortron Source, Antec.

You can also re-use the hard drive and any optical drive.

it just sucks knowing that you spend that kind of money on computer stuff just dont know what to buy like i already spent close to 200 just on the case and psu and dvd drive plus the cpu which i already sent off to rma pent. D 950 is a Peace of S***....

do some research next time, or just ask. It's never a good idea to buy ANY electronics without some research
