I'd like a little feedback getting the parts for my first build in many years.. I know a fair amount about computers but i'd like some other opinions on the parts I am using for my gaming PC.

HAF 912 MID >TOWER

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz >CPU

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 >MoBo Considering a ASUS Sabertooth 2.0 MoBo, or the UD5, or UD7 all between $150-$200 (suggestions?)

XFX Double D FX-787A-CDFC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit >GPU

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) >Ram

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650M 650W >PSU

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO >CPU Cooler

SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC128B/WW 2.5" 128GB >SSD

Western Digital WD Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" >HD

I'm going with the am3+ Motherboard if I decide to upgrade to the FX series in the future the Phenom II BE will be great for now especially for the price, plus the 7870 should run just about anything in Ultra settings

I'm trying to stay in this $800-$1000 range if you guys have any suggestions I'd appreciate it! THANK YOU!

Purely gaming? Seems like a sensible and cost effective rig to me. I don't see any point in a faster CPU and going for a higher GPU will add significant cost which in all probability just means you get to tick more options boxes in the graphics settings of games with no noticeable impact on the experience.

Am I OK to assume your resolution is 1920x1080 or less?

yes 1920x1080, I am thinking I should have gone with the fx-6300 for 50 bucks more but I don't know if I will notice a big difference since it is just a gaming/ everyday use rig... I wont need more then the 4 core's and with the 212 I should be able to OC it right below 4ghz without the temps getting to high

I think you'll be fine. My eldest son is still running an Athlon 2 X3 430 and he recently inherited my HD 6870 ... happily plays most games at 1080p resolution with most options ticked.

Any extra money should go into the GPU really.
