You need to be more specific. What kind of computer? Are the cords plugged in? Have you tested the speakers with anything else (the plug should fit into anything that takes headphones)? Is the volume muted? Are the speakers turned on with the volume up? Under what circumstances did you lose sound?

Go to the control pannel --> sound and hardware and select 'change system sounds', click on any sound in the list that pops up and hit the 'test' button. What happens?

We can't see your computer. You need to give us more information so we can help.

Also, you should try giving dell a call. They're pretty helpful even if the computer is out of warranty. You'll need a service tag number, its on a sticker on the back.
