No sound

Hello,

I have fresly reinstalled my OS on my pc and I've been having trouble with my sound.
I will try to provide all information I can to narrow down the issue.
Here is what i know:
1. My speakers work and they have been plugged in properly in the back of my pc.
2. I have installed my driver for the sound card, however it won't show in the tray nor in task manager. The only sounds i ever hear ar the ones inside my pc whenever there is a notification.
3. I am running on win xp.

  1. Hello,

Is that PCI or onboard sound card? You could check BIOS setting to see if onboard card is enabled.
  2. It is an onboard sound card, and I have checked the BIOS and it's enabled.
  3. Ok. Sorry for delay.

Did device manager recognized UNKNOWN DEVICE prior to installing drivers?
Is it possible that you are running WIN XP SP1?
Maybe you are missing Microsoft UAA driver.

Everything on Device Manager seemed fine when I checked it.
    Was using WinXP SP2.
It's alright now, I reinstalled my OS, switched back to Win 7.
    Thanks for the help!
