Freaking out HELP! CPU swap gone bad

I switched from a g850 to a 2320 i5 cpu. Tried to turn the power on and it keeps restarting after 3 seconds of being on. When i his my cmos button it will (sometimes) stay on but with no display whatsoever.
P67H2-A2 ECS motherboard
8gb ram 1333
7850 2gb

ect...

I hope i didnt just mess up my pc. Any help would be great.

reinstall the g850. sounds like you got a dead cpu.

Should have added.... the cpu came out of a HP beats audio pc that i got new. I was buying a pc for my wife and wanted the quad for myself to play arma 3.

Did you reapply the thermal paste correctly and reinstall or replace the Heatsink/Fan assembly that sits on top of the CPU? It won't boot if the Heatsink/Fan assembly is not installed correctly.

CPU fan is plugged in correctly. Heatsink is on correctly. I'll re-apply thermal paste now

What's the power supply?

It could just be that the margin of draw was so slim because it was a crappy power supply that the i5 isn't getting enough power.

corsair gs700. CPU has been repasted and same thing

re-seated graphics card.... can't think of anything else. Just realised my keyboard and mouse never turn on when it's powered on. Hope that helps

no one? i hate taking apart that HP.... G850 just wont cut it for arma 3. Switch back , assuming i didn't screw somthing else up and it's not the cpu

Boots just fine with my G850... thank god. Whta with the other cpu though. it's brand new. Does HP have some oem cpu that isnt transferable or something?

Stopped working.... boots up to windows loading then crashes with my G850 now. Popped the cpu out and even though i know what i'm doing and was really careful.... i noticed some pins are bent in my socket.

Yeah if you have bent pins then you are more than likely going to need to get a new mobo. You may have been too excited when you got the new chip and either installed it incorrectly or forcibly.

^ If you have bent pins, then you can straighten them out with a pair of tweezers. Do not fret over bent pins that much. Can somebody direct OP to Pinhedd's thread/instruction on bent pins. Can't locate it.

and do take your mobo out of the chassis and discharge static before working on those pins. It's all gold so super malleable and certainly wont break

I got my tweezers i use for SMT soldering and bent them back... it appears that one of the pins may have broke off at the end. I don't have time to test it now but it's looking grim.

Ahh yeah youre right. I was thinking he was talking about the socket itself for some reason.
