XFX Double D 6870 crashing games?

So, I am a total newbie to non-Nvidia GPU's and I bought the XFX Double D 6870 from Newegg.

Anyways, I got the most current drivers installed, but games will randomly just crash. No warning message, no sounds, no colored screens, the game just exits me to desktop. I was playing Counter Strike GO earlier, then I stopped, ate some dinner and when I came back to play some more, it would just randomly crash.

I was playing Battlefield 3 online earlier and it did the same thing.

However, I was playing GTA 4, Day Z and Just Cause 2 earlier today for extended periods each, with no crashes.

I have a Corsair GS600 PSU. I know it needs 500, but this should be enough right? I've got both power pins connected and it's completely random.

What's more is that games that I used to play on my Nvidia card, now won't work. I tried to play Mirrors Edge and it just crashes after the intro splash. I tried Tropico 3 and it said that I needed a DX9 card, but I never had those issues with my GTS 450.

Anyways, any people out there know what this could be? Everything is stock and not overclocked.

I am pretty sure that I got them all except for PhysX. I went into control panel and just removed all the Nvidia stuff. Is that sufficient?

Do a reinstall of the new drivers.
  5. I did that and just played CS:GO for like 30 minutes with no issues. If I don't report back, I suppose that means it worked fully. It's just hard to guage since it's random.
  6. Well it seems like that worked. Thank you!
