Possible problem with HD 7850

hey,

just looking for some help with my gigabyte ati hd 7850 OC. i cannot run the windows experience index without the program crashing halfway through at 'tuning windows media decoding'. i tried reinstalling the drivers but it made no difference.

i thought perhaps i might have a problem with my gpu so i intended to do some benchmarking, i couldn't get 3dmark11 to run at all (crashed when i tried to run the program) but i did manage to get a benchmark with unigine heaven dx11 (below). can anyone who has this card or similar confirm whether these are standard results? do i have any problems?

any help would be much appreciated!

edit: i re-downloaded 3dmark11 and managed to get some scores, do these seem normal?
score: P7323
graphics: 7435
physics: 7105
combined score: 6869

specs:

core i5 3550
asrock H77 pro4 mvp
8gb corsair vengeance
gigabyte hd 7850
samsung 830 128gb
WD caviar black 1tb
corsair hx650

  1. Try lowering the clock speed. If you haven't overclocked then I'd suggest to return it as it's probably faulty. Also make sure to check if all the power connecters are connected properly. Check if it's seated in the right slot.

Did you connect 6-ppin connector from the power supply to the graphics card?

yep, sure have, thanks for the help.

i've been doing some more reseaching and i don't think the problems i'm experiencing are from my gpu but instead it could be the amd drivers. i'll mark this thread as solved

  6. I hope you resolve it. Reinstalling windows is probably the only fast and efficient way of solving driver problems.
