Can i use dvi-hdmi for audio?

I have my TV connected using my HDMI from a Radeon 7850. I want to get audio through my graphics card but would like my surround sound set up on it's own. So my question is can i use a DVI-HDMI adapter and use it for dolby digital 5.1 and dts?

No because dvi doesn't transfer sound.
