Hello, I am curious as to whether the AMD Radeon 6770 1gb GDDR5 is good enough card to run most high end games at medium/high graphics at a 1024 x 768 resolution, and also, is there a better card that I can pair with an FX 4100 with no bottleneck?

Thanks for any replies.

The 6770 can handle 720p (1280x720) pretty well, so 1024x768 shouldn't be a problem. There are faster cards that the FX-4100 can usually handle just fine, but I don't know if the games that you play can have their settings go high enough to make use of faster cards at such a low resolution.

Are you building a new computer and if so, what is your budget? Maybe I (or also some other people) can help.

FX-4100 should not be used for gaming, too many performance issues, especially with BF3.

The FX-4100 is better (with overclocking) than any similarly priced Intel CPU (i3 and below) and many more expensive models until the i5s if it is brought to about 4.4-4.6GHz and given a decent CPU/NB frequency boost. It works just fine in BF3.

I have already built the computer and i have OC'ed the 4100 to a pretty stable 4.0 ghz WITH the stock cooler and the temp doesnt go above 50c when gaming. My current gpu is a radeon 5450 which is awful :/  The games I play can be played up to a maximum of 1080p but i think my monitor is 720p. Also, my budget is around £120 for a graphics card as thats around what i payed for my cpu so im trying to avoid a bottleneck.
Thanks for any suggestions :)

have you thought about an AMD 6850 graphics card. I have one and it's pretty good in most games and i play most of them at 1920x1080. This one is £87.99

I think you will not have to upgrade so soon as you will have to with a 6770 and it is well within your budget. I hope this helps!
