Newbie question here...
I have had a Nikon f-401x for a while, and a SB23 flashgun. Now I have a D70,
and want to use the same flash.

Messing around with it, I took these two pictures.

Can someone please explain why the exposure s so different between them?

The lens is a 35-80 f4-5.6 Nikon, the camera was in auto, distance about 8 feet
