"There is no such thing as a dumb question. There are, however, dumb soldiers." SFC Thomas James, US Army, Nov. 15, 1975

New build. First build. OCZ ModXstream-Pro 600W power supply. Two LiteOn DVD/CD writers. Power supply has a Serial ATA cable with three (3) connectors. [See the cable by clicking the link to ModXStream Pro Mechanical Drawing on this page: http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-500w-700w-modxstream-pro-power-supply.html]. Can I connect both DVD/CD writers to the power supply using the one SATA power cable?

If no, thanks.

If yes, is there a downside to connecting both with the same cable instead of using one cable for each DVD/CD writer?

Thanks.

Yep. You can use all the connections on a particular cable without issue. If it wasn't capable of handling it, then the connection would be there.
You would only be facing problems with lack of power if you were chaining multiple connections off the one cable.
