Evening everyone,

I currently have a Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 graphics card with 870 Core Speed and 1050 Mem clock speed and I am trying to play BF3 on my system.

My system follows
CPU- Core 2 Quad Q6600
Mobo- Intel DG965WH
Ram- 4 Gb Corsair DDR2
PSU- Corsair 750 Watt
Windows 7

I know my system is getting old but it is well beyond the minimum specs and I only get on average 30-35 fps on low. I feel i should be getting a little higher at least 45-50 on low settings. I am fine with low because I come from the 360 where low even looks better than xbox version. Thanks for the help

This is a little out of my area of knowledge but I believe this is caused because your card will only run DX 9, BF3 uses DX 11 which runs more efficently, since the game is running with DX 9 instead it slows it down.

The gpu can run in directx 10 and even 11. I have a Mobo that I can not OC so that really isn't an option until I replace my componets. I am trying to keep the system going for another year or two.

my resolution is currently 1280x768 on a Dell LCD 30in display. And you are correct I view the wrong card when looking the directx capability. It can only do 10 which is fine for bf3

No. Just NO.Battlefield 3 uses uses so many cores, that FX Series CPU's perform as well as Core i5's!

If you play multiplayer with a lot of players a dual core just won't cut it.

That i3 will likely last a year at best. I would not recommend anything lower than a quad anymore. New games will require quad. Dual core simply doesn't cut it anymore. Its not "very powerful".
