Both have a few inconsistencies. Here's a revised version.

The Corsair CX series are a bit mediocre when it comes to amperage. The 500w is basically a 450w unit.

I mean, those are just models i found. Would there be a better way to do this? As long as it is under $800 and can play wow like a beast i will be happy!

thanks for the update excella that looks good.

@excella the corsair is/was better and cheaper then his imo. The build is good.
@Op do you live near a micro center? Also is the only game you care about wow?

Also the 7870 is overkill just as the i5 3570k is.

I'm assuming 1080p resolution if you are looking at a 7870/7850.

The build by excella1221 is a great build. Although overkill for just WoW.

You don't need to spend anywhere near $800 to max out WoW. Unless you have to buy a new monitor/keyboard/mouse/and OS.

My core2duo e8400 and gts 250 run it on ultra at ~60fps at 1440x900. Dips in raids naturally. So as you can see even older systems can max out WoW.

Here's the only thing.

Buy an SSD.

It doesn't make a difference in framerates, but know those loading screens?

They disappear.

You turn your computer on. 12 seconds later, you log in. 1 second after that, you start wow. In 6 seconds you can log in. By the 30 second mark, you've already loaded your character and are running around.

CPU: Core i3-3220 or Core i5 3330

MOBO: H77M Micro ATX LGA1155

Memory: 8GB DDR3-1600

GPU: GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5

^^^^^^
(Throw in whichever brand you prefer or has discounts/rebates)

You should also look into a ssd to use as a boot drive and to throw WoW on for load times. 80+ GB should be fine.

Like i said earlier, you dont need to spend $800 for WoW. If thats all you are going to play the above system is perfect. If you eventually want to play other games that demand more power, you could upgrade cpu or gpu.

But for WoW, this will max it out.

You also don't need a 660 to max out WoW. So you could save more money on the GPU. A 560 will max out WoW. Can save you some there...

I'd still recommend going with at least a 660 thou.. Just for other games you may or may not play.

Just an SSD? No HDD? Windows 7 + WoW would eat about 65GB if not more right off the bat.
Although for some people 256GB could be enough storage. For me and my music and movies I need way more.

He could drop that down to a 128GB SSD to save even more, then get a 1TB HDD.

This would not save even more but it would give him more storage. It would be more expensive. For most people 256GB is enough storage.

@jackspeed 1)Earth Watts green psu IS a Pretty BAD PSU get a better Series not the green one :D

2) Ram i would advice a VENGANCE CORSAIR 8GB (2x4) 1600MHz its a more trusted brand and it almost costs the same but better.

3)The GT 650Ti Is a good V/C but if he can pay 50$ more he can probably get a 660GTX HEAVILY OC'd 2GB GDDR5 (265BIT) Wich is much faster in V/c and gaming ;d

4)He can get the Same procssesor for less $$ from amazon, i searched myself :)
here is the site Intel Core i3-3220 Dual-Core Processor 3.3 Ghz 3 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80637i33220 *Price: $119.99 & this item ships for FREE with Super Saver Shipping.* http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0093H8HXS/?tag=pcpapi-20 :)

@1 antec is a trusted brand yes the cpu may not be as good as there gamer series but its cheaper and it still has enough headroom granted I would not sli with it.

@2 gskill is a well known brand for ram.

@3 my higher cost build had a gtx 660 he wanted a lower cost build

@4 my cpu and mobo was a combo with a reduction of $30 between the 2. Its 120 on newegg with promo code.
so 130-30=100 for the cpu.

I threw one together for you.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/m3i6

I have 2 ssd listed because that samsung has a $40 coupon that ends today. So its only 134 until midnight tonight.

The rest is just the parts we advised you to get. You can fill in mouse keyboard OS monitor IF you need them.

You could also swap that PSU for a 500w corsair and save about $30.

CPU Intel Core i3-3220 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor $119.99 (same price as the A10 xD)

Motherboard ASRock H77M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard $69.99

Memory Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory $40.99

EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2662-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card $229.95

CASE: Apex PC-375 ATX Mid Tower Case w/300W Power Supply $36.99

Optical Drive LG GH24NS90 DVD/CD Writer $17.99

PS:if you do have an SDD/HDD then you can just use that one and the price would be 600$ DEAD if you don't then here Hitachi 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $59.86

the price would be 658$ ish

i got you an ANTEC Gamer PSU+A CASE that has 300PSU so you should be fine build has no compatibility issues although the H77M Motherboard has a 3.0 USB infront and the case doesnt :(  if you dont want this case i will advice you to get ANTEC ONE Hunderd it has a usb port infront other than that if you can pay For a core i5 (costs $179.99, the core i3 costs 119.99) you'll get better preformance as for editing and Video rendering the GTX 660 should be the one you need with 2GB and comes FACTORY heavily oc'd you should just do the job @jackspeed im sorry i got it wrong the GTX 660 isn't 256BIT but still a heck lot better than a 650 the 660 preforms about 50FPS ON MAX BF3 the GTX650 should go like 40~ish :)  so enjoy

@jack speed noooo your SSD's Are TOO MUCH PRICEY he doesn't need that much OCZ Vertex Plus R2 60GB 2.5" Solid State Disk $49.99 and a
Hitachi 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $59.86

His budget is only 800$

ASRock H77 Pro4-M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard $89.99 he can get an ASROCK H77M For only 69$ saves him a bit.

MSI GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card $239.98 Costs more and isn't overclocked i'd advice the EVGA

Antec Three Hundred ATX Mid Tower Case $45.98 too much Get an antec one hundred so you can use the USB Port 3.0 or get the cooler master Elite 300.

@OP the 660 is a great card which is why I put it in my 800 build but it is unnecessary for wow. You will probably want an ssd as you will see alot of performance gains outside of wow with it. Customs case will require you to take the built in psu out :( .

October 31, 2012 6:22:18 PM

@jackspeed He would be rendering stuff too as i saw thats why i recommended the 660 XD and BTW the 660 is a safer choice and better one as we all know and he would be able to run wow ULTRA HIGH no lagg even in high dungeons with small spaces (causes epic lagg usually) other than that the SSD yarmock/or you (not sure) COSTED 200!! you can get to agility SSD's (120GB) 45$ each saves you 100$ in that 100$ you can get an HDD 500GB 7200RPM never the less the SSD's don't really give improvments in gaming thats why i dont really care if he goes with them or not but if he doesnt go with them he can probably save 100$ he can go with a 60GB SDD and 500GB HDD :)

BTW @toallhisdoom i can get you a budget PC.. could run wow on MAXED out 40FPS for only 400$ :p  but i really advice you go with my i3/EVGA SUPER OC'd 2GB 660GTX :)  but still its your choice if you want that build ill be happy to post it up for you

The ssd I suggested is 130 after rebates.
I know his budget is 800 but he wanted to spend as little as possible to max wow. Which is why I lowered my build to 650. From what I've read even the 650ti gpu is overkill for wow. So that is why I backed down to it because it still had headroom. The ssd can help eliminate loading screens in games I do not know how that would translate to wow. He also has an ssd in his laptop so he may want one in his desktop
m
