Stuttering and low FPS down to bottleneck??

Hello people. i need to no if my system is bottlenecked..im experincing nasty fps drops in most modern games and i need to no if its down to a componet that i need to upgrade..or if somthing is failing.. i game at 1920x1080 on an HDTV

More about stuttering bottleneck
  1. and? have you done any benchmarks or testing? temparatures? voltages? CPU and GPU clocks and loads at the time of stutter?

from the list you've given all I can tell is this machine costs about $1500-2000 and unless something is malfunctioning shouldn't have any problems running games.

Gotta give me something else go on here...
  2. Monitor temperatures, especially of your CPU. Does it matter if the game is online, i.e. could it be caused by network latency?
A program like HWINFO64 can track temps and clocks over time. You can use that to look for anomalies.
Are you using the latest drivers with your HD7970? Were they cleanly installed? Some HD7xxx cards drop back to 2D clocks under some circumstances (my HD7870 was doing that with the 11.6 and 11.8 Catalyst drivers).
  3. What games are you getting fps drops in? I would assume its your CPU bottlenecking... Are the games you play CPU intense games? Please list a few.

not sure how to go about benchmarking or testing but i normaly use hardware monitor for tempratures of cpu .but for some resson i cant see my tempratures anymore. i think it might be to do with a setting in my bios but i am unable to change anything in my bios :S

i can tell u what my gpu ses on the trixx program witch is reatime that it uses

idel temp around 35 c load temprature when running games 50 c and above

    gpu clock is at 1050
    gpu memory is at 1500
    board power Li 0
    vddc 1256

    hope this helps

pritty much everything but mainly the worst is diablo 3 and now borderlands 2 on medium physx
  6. I would put it down the to CPU if anything but even then that's a decent CPU. I hope you find the problem.

Well I guess you could monitor CPU usage with CPU-Z, and if your CPU is hitting 100% then that's where your problem is :)

thanks for the info. im not sure how to see if my cpu is hitting 100% though.can u explain please thanks
  8. If you install CPU-Z, you will see what I mean and it will log your CPU usage and tell you what is happening while you are playing a game.
  9. it most likely won't hit 100% when bottlenecking if you see it going 85-100% most likely the CPU is bottlenecking your rig.
  10. i allready have cpu z installd but i dont see anything showing a % under cpu or anywere els on the tabs. please explain .

Core Temp has the loads on it, dl that one.

  12. ok well i tryd running deus x human revolution and on cor temp freq 0 was saying around 50%. Is this bad?
  13. 50% is good, but you need to try online games, as they use the most CPU. Like 64 player BF3
  14. I tryed diablo 3 .thats online and the stutter is bad. running the game in windows mode and looking at core temps window frequncy 1 seems to be at 42% and frequancy 5 seems to change from min 15% to %20 frequncy 0 and 3 were 3% to 5% and the others were on 0%... is this normal..i dont no about this stuff at all .looking at hardware moniter my max cpu temp dosent go any higher then 40 c
  15. How about a non-online game? Did you monitor the clocks on your graphics card?
  16. my preivues post was testing an offline game. and my temp on the gpu is around 58 c on load the gpu clock is 1118 and the memory clock is 1602
  17. any ideas??
