Additional Comments:
I would like to finally upgrade my 6 year old system and after perusing the Internets I see that it won’t be near as expensive as my system was when I first built it.
I am currently running the following setup
CPU: E6600 Conroe
MOBO: EVGA 680i LT (socket 775)
RAM: 6 Gigs Corsair DDR2 800
HDD: 7200 Mechanical drives (various)
GFX: GTS 450 1GB
Case: Antec P180b
PSU: Antec TP650
Gaming is priority, but I am not looking for bleeding edge.
The video card was the newest purchase; it replaced a GeForce 7950GT 512MB that hurts to think about how much I spent on it back then. But I feel I can survive a little bit longer on the gts450 until I make the triple monitor investment I am planning on for the future and figure I will get the best card at the time of my monitor purchase.
So that leaves me with CPU, MOBO, RAM and SSD. My reading has brought me to a few choices
CPU: Core i5 3570K $230
MOBO: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO $200
RAM: Still trying to determine best value, but 16gb ddr3 1600 should be within reach ~$80
SSD: Samsung 830 128gb at 80 bucks all over the net seems hard to beat. ~80
I am not one to overclock, but the price difference between the i5 processors makes me feel like why not just get the 3570k. There is no reason why this wouldn’t last me quite a few more years for what I need.
So i guess my question is, should I go with what I’m thinking or am I being stupid and might as well save the 50-100 bucks on the cpu and motherboard if I don’t "plan" on overclocking. Or are there alternative options I am not thinking about here.
Thank you in advance!
