Help! My internet connection slows down while plugged into the router

Hi,

I have a D-Link DIR-655 Router with a Motorola SB5101. When the computer is directly plugged into the modem i get 10Mpbs but when it is connected to the modem (either wireless or wired) the max speed is >3Mbps.

Anyone have any ideas?

have you tried rebooting the modem after you connected the router?

Try moving your modem and router away from each other. Also check for electrical interference
