Re-connecting my Maxtor One-Touch to a Netgear CDG24G cable

Hello,
Recently the idiots at Time Warner Cable replace my previous cable modem with a "Netgear CDG24G Advanced Cable modem gateway". Since then, my Maxtor one-touch network drive is not recognized by my computer. I have a ethernet cat5 from the drive to the modem ... and a USB cable going to the Netgear modem. I have reset the network drive ... no results.

your computer should only connect to the modem via network cable.

you cannot use both USB and ethernet at the same time. Nothing should be connected to the USB port of the modem.

I removed the USB, then tried with the ethernet. No results. I tried the USB without the ethernet ... nothing! I connect the computer directly to the Maxtor and I can run the setup utility... but. that's all ... no soap. Is there a way to connect with only the USB? I have a USB port in the cable modem.
