ESD paranoid

I just starting my new build 10k+

And I'm really paranoid about ESD

Would putting a steel rod into the ground and attaching
A anti-static wrist strap to it work.

Electro-Static Discharge I am assuming?

A spike in the ground is exactly what the earth pin in any electrical socket leads to.
Have the PSU in the case, and that plugged ino the wall (with the switch off it it has one). Attach your wristband to the case and you are grounded.

Plus other precautions like not standing on carpet and building on a non-conductive surface (wooden table, rubber mat, stone bench, even cardboard is all good).
