Hi! I want to buy a P4 computer. But I don't understand what "dual Channel" means? Does it mean that I need to fill in all RDRAM slots on the mainboard to use Dual Channel tech? Can I use just one slot of 256MB and also use Dual Channel?
Thank you very much!

Linux!

dual channel means u need to fill 2 slots at a time, as u will notice most p4 boards have 4 slots grouped into 2 groups of 2.

so if you wanted 256mb rdram, you would have to buy 2 128mb rimms and put on in differnt slot groups.
512, 2 x 256mb rimms.
thats how the p4 gets its mamoth bandwidth. acces to both sticks at the same time.
course its not as convient as sdram or ddr, when u can just stick in another stick of ram when u feel like it.
they haveta go in pairs!

Is that a Northwoody in your pocket or are you just eXPited to see me?

and you need to fill them in a particular sequence. plus you also need to have same capacity modules for each pair. so you can have 128x2 and 64x2 for a 384MB RDRAM!
