I want to get a 7850 or 7870.

Obviously the 7870 is better/costs more

However my friend showed me this and said i should definitely buy it and i will be able to overclock it with ease and it will smash the 7870? Just looking for another opinion

Heres the one he wants me to buy

Don't know how well the 7870 overclocks ( i think not bad ) but i assume an oc'd 7870 is faster than a oc'd 7850.

If money is not the first priority go for the 7870 imo.

If you can afford it go with the 7870.

If you can't afford it, go with the 7870.

Wait and save and get the 7870. I think its better in my opinion to get the best you can get.

The 7850 and the 7870 are the same chip. The 7870 is higher binned, that is, it's guaranteed to run at "7870" speed. You're slightly more likely to get a higher overclock on a 7870 than a 7850, but it's all in the luck of the draw.

If you do intend to overclock, just make sure to get a card with a decent stock cooler if you're not adding an aftermarket solution. ASUS DCII is the best, gigabyte's windforce, MSI's twin frozor, and HIS IceQ are also good.

have fun!
